The Colin Byrne Jazz Orchestra
Active since:
Jazz Orchestra composer, Colin Byrne was born in Cork City, Ireland in 1974 where he spent many years playing and touring with various bands. In 1995 he moved to Leeds, England and in 1999 he completed a BA degree in Jazz Studies at Leeds College of Music. In 2000 completed his M.Mus in Jazz Composition. The idea for Big Band Byrne was first conceived in June 1999 just as Colin Byrne was about to complete his B.A. degree in Jazz Studies at Leeds College Of Music. Colin had been writing prolifically during his degree years and had, without realising, produced the first few compositions for the exhilarating pad that Big Band Byrne uses today. Gutbucket
Gutbucket is a free-range band. The seven-year-old New York quartet is not only equally comfortable playing in front of 900 sweatily pogo-ing teenage skate-punks, a crowd of stoned jamband freaks, or on an anarchist German art collective houseboat, but most importantly, their music fits right in. Flitting from hard rock to Latin to thrash to klezmer and back, often within the space of a few bars, the group veritably attacks their music with the kind of ferocity usually reserved for punk, despite having earned their jazz bona fides. "We’re all pretty serious about rock," says saxophonist Ken Thomson, "and not just a token throwing-in of some different tunes

Multiple Organism Jazz Orchestra
It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing? We disagree... What about that funk, or that rock, or that strut, or that quirk, or that crunch, or just that bloody-well-coolness? This is the big band that's sacking the old school and doing things its own way. Formed in 2006 by Edinburgh saxophonists/composers Tom Pickles and Zack A. Moir, the band's debut album, 'Arguments (Waiting To Happen)' is out now on Stitch Records.

The Moutin Reunion Quartet
Active since:
Back in 1999 Louis and Francois Moutin decided to form THE MOUTIN REUNION QUARTET in order to perform their original compositions. They had a common desire: to create music expressing the energy of life; full of emotion and spontaneity - a music close to them, to what they intimately feel, inhabited by Jazz' spirit, swing and grooves, inviting listeners and musicians to celebrate beauty and imagination. They are sharing this desire with their two outstandingly skilled partners: the amazingly talented pianist Pierre de Bethmann and the immensely gifted saxophonist Rick Margitza.
