Andrew Read studied double bass at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne (Australia). After leaving the college in 1981, Andrew began to work professionally in the Australian music scene performing and recording with such diverse artists as jazz singer Vince Jones through to pop band Perfect Strangers. In 1993 Andrew moved to the Netherlands to further his studies in classical double bass at the Conservatorium in Enschede and later with Hans Roelofsen at the Conservatorium in Arnhem. Within a short period after moving to the Netherlands Andrew became established in both the jazz and classical worlds
