Aldo Bagnoni

Born:

Born in Bari (Apulia, South Italy) in 1960, mainly self taught, he also studied briefly with Franco Lorusso (ex I.S.M.J. Parma) and frequented clinics with Andrea Centazzo, Pierre Favre and Ettore Fioravanti. From 1983 on he played in concerts, festivals and recordings with Stefano Battaglia, Tim Berne, Linda Bsiri, Roberto Cecchetto, Eugenio Colombo, François Corneloup, Daniele D’Agaro, Paolo Damiani, Stefano De Bonis, Furio Di Castri, Paolo Fresu, Michel Godard, Robin Kenyatta, Nguyên Lê, Claudio Lugo, Maurice Magnoni, Augusto Mancinelli, Gavino Murgia, Stefano Pastor, Mar io Raja, Yves Robert, Boris Savoldelli, Louis Sclavis, Daniele Sepe, Achille Succi, John Surman, Claude Tchamitchian, Bruno Tommaso, Pietro Tonolo, Gianluigi Trovesi, Massimo Urbani, Cristina Zavalloni, John Zorn and many others. Between the founders of D olmen Orchestra directed by Nicola Pisani, he recorded in 2000 and 2001 for Leo Records “Sequenze Armoniche” and “Minotrauma”, about gregorian music as well as Frederich Duerrenmatt’s work. In these years, until 1998, he also worked as a session man in th e field of ethno rock, playing in Italy and Greece mainly with X Darawish group Originally mainly a performer researching about his instrument, after 2000 he started composing. He’s president from 2008 on of Phonetica Association, founding and directing until 2011 Phonetica Jazz Festival in Maratea (Basilicata, South Italy). From 2012 until today he worked mainly in Apulia and Basilicata in several groups and medium ensembles, like Collettivo Casa Cava, with whom he played a work written by Bruno Tommaso for Matera city, who was also presented in Materadio RAI radio festival in 2016. In 2019 he founded his brand new quartet, The Connection, and recorded the first work of this project, based on his own music and arrangements
