Luigi Archetti - Jan Schlegel: Silent Surface II

Uno sperimentalismo alquanto accigliato, serioso, caratterizza questo che è il secondo volume (registrazioni fra il 2006 e il 2011) della "superficie silente" messa a punto dai due musicisti svizzeri. Ovviamente l'elemento elettronico occupa il centro del proscenio, svariando (poco, in verità) fra momenti più corporei, a tratti quasi virulenti, e altri decisamente più sfumati, minimali (se non esangui).

Se quest'ultima annotazione dovesse far pensare a chi legge di trovarsi di fronte a un album dalle spiccate dinamiche interne, sgombri subito il campo da tale suggestione: ci sono, è vero, atmosfere diverse fra brano e brano, ma il clima globale è statico, monolitico e piuttosto impermeabile, con un uso prevalentemente scuro e un po' spettrale (a tratti vagamente apocalittico) della materia sonora.

Ciò non significa che tutto sia da buttare - non fa certo difetto il rigore, né si può in alcun modo mettere in dubbio l'onestà di base della proposta, e relativa ricerca - ma il prodotto finale (che è poi ciò che conta) sembra rivolto ai patiti dell genere, che probabilmente lo apprezzeranno non poco.
