L'intento è quello di creare una atmosfera magica e ipnotica, con inflessioni ora malinconiche, ora repentine e taglienti. L'inventiva messa in campo fa il resto, contribuendo in misura decisiva a superare superbamente tale sfida minimalista, suscitando forti emozioni nell'ascoltatore. Sin dall'ascolto del brano iniziale si comprende bene il senso del progetto, rivolto a stimolare l'anima cameristica della Myers. Scongiurato il rischio di un vacuo accademismo potenzialmente insito nel progetto, emerge una commossa tensione emotiva che privilegia un esemplare lirismo piuttosto che inutili sperimentazioni.
Forte di un rigore espressivo e di un enciclopedismo assai rari, la pianista statunitense è una delle interpreti più lucide del repertorio musicale afroamericano.
