Fabrizio Sferra Trio: Rooms
Sulla porta delle stanze sonore descritte in Rooms c'è spesso il suono imprevedibile di Guidi. Sono i suoi movimenti a farci strada nei diciassette ambienti che formano l'intera costruzione. Passi decisi, utilissimi in locali per lo più scuri, con poca luce, tranne quella flebile che penetra da una timida alba ("Walking to the Door"). Posti ampi, dove è l'esaltazione dello spazio a far respirare la musica ("Shadows," "Light Dress"), ma anche stretti (il finale di "Matteo's Dream") e pieni di cattivi presagi.
Il lavoro non concede distrazioni all'ascoltatore, perché i tre protagonisti restano in equilibrio su piani sonori che alternano corposità e trasparenza, frenesia e distensione. Sferra è presente, anche se a volte sembra un fantasma che si aggira nell'aria. I suoi interventi sono sempre funzionali: una figurazione stimolante, poi un suggerimento, magari verso la via d'uscita o giusto per innescare una reazione sublime.
Rooms non è un disco semplicissimo, anzi. E anche se rappresenta un insieme coeso - per intenzione e stile - ogni pezzo sembra avere una propria chiave di lettura, un'idea personale di come tracciare un percorso singolare e accattivante.
