Yitzhak Yedid: Oud Bass Piano Trio

Possibile riassumere in un solo disco le molteplici, frammentarie, contraddittorie, anime della cultura ebraica?

Ci ha provato il compositore-pianista israeliano Yitzhak Yedid dando alle stampe questa pregevole serie di acquarelli mediorientali. Oud Bass Piano Trio: certo il titolo non lascia molto spazio alla fantasia. E quel che non si evince a un primo sguardo lo si intuisce continuando a leggere: Suite in Five Movements.

Fortunatamente, l’ispirazione del nostro supera di gran lunga le doti di redattore. E allora, ecco emergere fin dalla prima traccia i contorni di un’opera apprezzabile, soprattutto, per il generoso, e in parte riuscito, tentativo di fondere il repertorio klezmer, l’afflato mistico e tragico delle preghiere ebraiche, il calore della musica araba - degnamente rappresentata dall’oud -, suggestioni squisitamente jazz e fantasie mutuate dalla tradizione colta europea (Brahms e Bartók in primis).

Non c’è da annoiarsi lungo il percorso tracciato dalla penna del giovane compositore. Il sommesso pianto del contrabbasso in apertura del primo movimento già racconta di una terra lontana, della colpa di un popolo, del lamento di una nazione. Il mood tipicamente Jewish trascolora spesso in tinte dai riflessi nervosi (la seconda parte del secondo movimento), frastagliate impennate pseudo-free (il preludio al finale del terzo movimento) e dilatate divagazioni cameristiche (la coda del terzo movimento e l'apertura del quinto). A condire il tutto una manciata di spezie orientali, una fetta di dolce ai datteri e uvetta, una piatto abbondante di gefilte fish, le polpette di pesce tipiche della cucina Yiddish, e magari anche un paio di falafel palestinesi.

In conclusione: lascio a voi le considerazioni su quanto sia facile nell’arte oltrepassare confini che nella realtà appaiono invalicabili.
