Jonathan Kreisberg: One
Si concede solo qualche effetto, in poche occasioni. E non possiamo certo negare ad un chitarrista questa possibilità legata alla sempre più alta raffinatezza dell'elettronica applicata alla musica. In generale Kreisberg, in questo album in solo, preferisce affrontare standard molto battuti e legati alla chitarra, anche se non ci fa mancare due brevi composizioni da lui scritte. In "Without a Shadow" la sua chitarra si trasforma magicamente in una sorta di organo alla disperata rincorsa di chi sta in fuga davanti a se stesso. Nella conclusiva "Escape from Lower Formant Shift" invece risaltano fuori le derive 'progressive rock' che fanno parte della carriera artistica del chitarrista.
Il suo modo di affrontare gli standard è molto rispettoso e creativo allo stesso tempo. In apparenza, Jonathan Kreisberg cerca di non distaccarsi troppo dalla moderna tradizione di un Joe Pass o di un Kenny Burrell, ma sotto sotto si prende qualche giusto brivido che lo porta più nella direzione di Lenny Breau o Johnny Smith. Il suo approccio ritmico è decisamente interessante e variegato, pur essendo sempre decisamente in controllo. Un bell'esercizio di stile che non si fa mancare la giusta dose di passione.
