Smokey Robinson, Dave Brubeck, Michael McDonald, Taj Mahal headline the eighth annual Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival

The nine-day Festival, June 12-20, will deliver one of its most diverse lineups ever of creative improvised music. It will unite more than 800 familiar and yet to be discovered artists from around the world performing in 200-plus concerts.

From the last note of RIJF 2008 until today, I've been working diligently to assemble a diverse, multi-genre spectrum of creative improvised programming for this years event.
John Nugent Producer and Artistic Director.

Having received well over 1,300 unsolicited submissions from artists around the world asking to come here to perform leaves no question that XRIJF is doing something right! I'm pleased that our jazz festival once again offers something for everyone to enjoy with some special artistic gems hidden to discover. Our mantra has been and always will be, It's not WHO you know, it's who you DON'T know!

XRIJF will cover all the bases of music once again in 2009. We're ecstatic about what's in store for June 12-20 here in Rochester!"

As Festival producers, we are extremely honored by the continued confidence of Mayor Robert Duffy, the City of Rochester, NY State Senator Jim Alesi, M&T Bank, and County Executive Maggie Brooks.
Marc Iacona Festival Producer and Executive Director.

And with Xerox coming on board this year as our title sponsor, there is added excitement that is driving our energy and passion to even higher levels. With the support of all of our sponsors we look forward to presenting a Festival that is one of the best in the country and one that creates a positive economic impact for the Rochester area. Jazz in June is synonymous with Rochester, NY!"

Combining Xerox's hometown pride with the acclaimed Jazz Festival is a perfect fit for us. Through the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival, we're able to offer our customers and our people a fun way to engage with our company and our community.
Christa Carone vice president, marketing and communications at Xerox.

Expanded Made in the UK Series
The success of last years two Made in the UK Concerts led producers to develop a full series this year at Christ Church featuring artists from the United Kingdom. The series has also received support from Arts Council England. The series will feature the June Peter King Quartet, Liane Carroll Trio, Neil Cowley Trio, Huw Warren, Paula Gardiner Trio with Huw Warren, Tessa Souter Quartet, Tony Kofi Quartet, Norma Winstone with Gareth Williams, and Tim Garlands Lighthouse Trio.

There is a wealth of jazz creativity in the UK, and we are pleased that the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival is providing an expanded international platform to present this music.
John Ellson Director of ESIP Limited

Artists selected represent different aspects of the vibrant British jazz scene. Peter King and Norma Winstone, and as a result of his touring with Chick Corea, Tim Garland, are already well respected in the U.S. but have not had the opportunity to work there very often in their own right. It is a great opportunity for artists such as Liane Carroll, Toni Kofi, and The Neil Cowley Trio to perform in the U.S. for the first time.
