Woodlawn Cemetery Honors Jazz Appreciation with Concert

A free concert celebrating the jazz greats memorialized at Woodlawn, hosted by saxophonist Victor Goines.

In honor of Jazz Appreciation Month (April), The Woodlawn Cemetery is hosting weekend concerts and tours to celebrate in style and pay tribute to some of history's great American jazz musicians, including Duke Ellington, Illinois Jacquet, Miles Davis, Jackie McLean, Max Roach, Milt Jackson, and many others.

Cost: FREE (seating is limited, reservations recommended)
Date: Sunday, April 19, 2:00 p.m.
Location: The Woolworth Chapel at the Woodlawn Cemetery

Walking Tour: The Jazz Greats of Woodlawn

Visit the final, unique resting places of Miles Davis, Duke Ellington and others. Cost: $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and students (reservations recommended)

Directions:
The Woodlawn Cemetery is the last stop on the IRT #4 Train. The cemetery is also accessible from the Metro North Railroad Harlem Line (Woodlawn Station). For those traveling by car, Woodlawn can be reached from the E. 233rd St. exit off the Major Deegan (#13) and the Bronx River Parkway (#10).
