NEA Jazz in the Schools is supported by the Verizon Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Verizon Communications, which also sponsors the NEA Jazz Masters Initiative.
WHY
NEA Jazz in the Schools provides teachers with an extraordinary new multimedia curriculum, exploring jazz both as an art form and as a means for understanding American history, from late 19th century New Orleans until now.
The 2006 NEA Jazz Masters—all of them a part of that history—are joining the roster of 80 other jazz greats who have found new and expanded opportunities to reach out to the public through the Arts Endowment’s programs.

- Names of the 2006 NEA Jazz Masters, winners of the nation’s highest honor in this distinctly American art.
