Made In New York Jazz Competition Announces 2024-2025 Winners

The world’s first online jazz competition continues its tradition of discovery and innovation.
The Made In New York Jazz Competition today named the winners of its 2024-2025 season. Launched in 2013 as the first online jazz contest by the Made In New York Jazz brand, it drew entries from over 70 countries. Judges included legendary American jazz artists Mike Stern, Lenny White, and Randy Brecker. The voting committee members The Made In New York Jazz Competition's committee features prominent American artists, alongside international peers. John Lee (American bassist) has graced over 50 albums with icons like Dizzy Gillespie, Max Roach, and Sonny Rollins. Wayne Escoffery (American tenor saxophonist) is a Grammy winner and rising star in New York's scene. Manuel Valera (Cuban-born, New York-based pianist) is Grammy-nominated for his innovative compositions. Edsel Gomez (Puerto Rican pianist) is a 2007 Grammy nominee, renowned in Latin jazz. Federico Malaman (Italian bassist) is an internet sensation with millions of views for his arrangements and performances. Winners will perform at the 2026 Annual Made In New York Jazz Gala. The Made In New York Jazz Competition invites passionate jazz musicians from every corner of the globe to showcase their artistry by uploading their video performances directly to the website madeinnyjazz.com Musicians choose from five dynamic categories—Solo Instrumental, Solo Vocal, Small Band, Composer, or Arrangement. Once submitted, the work enters a thrilling hybrid judging process: thousands of dedicated jazz fans worldwide cast online votes to build buzz and support, while a prestigious committee of experts shortlists the standouts.

This Year's Winners

First Place
Matteo Prefumo (Italy) – Prefumo's project focuses on strong melodies that mix the known with the new. He works with other musicians to create songs that stick with listeners. He wins $3,000 plus 10% of entry fees, a trip to the gala, and a spot on stage with top artists.

Second Place
Sedno (Poland) – The band mixes electronic sounds with live instruments. They use loops and blend jazz, techno, and world music for high-energy tracks.

Third Place
: Enrico Le Noci Quartet (Netherlands) – Led by guitarist Enrico Le Noci, the group plays modern jazz with piano, guitar, bass, and drums. Their songs blend old and new styles, seeing jazz as a way to connect people.

The 2026 Gala

Last season's winners performed at a prestigious venue in New York City. The 2026 gala will feature this year's winners alongside renowned jazz artists. Check madeinnyjazz.com for updates and early tickets. Fans can watch videos and vote there too.

Next Season Opens September 1

The Made In New York Jazz Competition will open submissions for its 2025/26 season on September 1, 2025. Musicians worldwide are invited to submit video performances through madeinnyjazz.com in categories including Solo Instrumental, Solo Vocal, Small Band, Composer, and Arrangement.
