At The Iridium Jazz Club
New York, NY - The New Jersey Jazz Society and the Institute of Jazz Studies at Rutgers University are pleased to announce the election of organist Jimmy Smith to their American Jazz Hall of Fame. The presentation will be made at the Iridium Jazz Club (1650 Broadway NYC) by society president Joe Lang on Thursday, April 24, 2003 prior to the first set at 8:PM.

It has been the practice in recent years to present the AJHOF plaques to surviving members at appearances by them in the New York City Metro Area. AJHOF awards were recently presented to Terry Gibbs at The Iridium Jazz Club in New York City on Friday, April 4th, and to Ahmad Jamal at the Community Theatre in Morristown, New Jersey on Saturday, April 5th.
Other 2003 inductees include Claude Fiddler" Williams, Gene Ammons, Bill Harris, Joe Mooney and Mel Torme
