"Jazz Matters" Panel Discussion "Jazz -- From Afar" Tuesday, Feb 27th at the New School 6 to 8 P.M. Admission is Free of Charge

Authorities on music now in China, France and Russia discuss “Jazz From Afar" for the first of four spring “Jazz Matters" public panels produced by the Jazz Journalists Association at the New School Jazz fifth floor performance space, 55 W. 13th St., New York City, on Tuesday, February 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. Admission is free of charge.

JazzRu web publisher, editor-writer and broadcaster Cyril Moshkow, a native of Moscow, Russia on his way home from his annual visit to the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival in Moscow, Idaho, willjoin Emmanuel Morlet, jazz programs director for the French Embassy in the U.S>, and Baruch College professor of journalism/Milt Hinton Concert Series director/ composer-arranger-pianist Eugene Marlow, currently writing a book with new research from his China tour of last fall, to take up themes related to the historic dissemination, distinctive developments, and practical circumstances of indegenousartists and scenes in three highly diverse and dynamic nations. Howard Mandel, president of the Jazz Journalists Association, will moderate. This Jazz Matters will be the first of a proposed series to be videotaped for eventual New School webcast.
