Ron Fair, President of A&M Records To Deliver Keynote Address

BOSTON, March 18, 2002 -- Get ready for Music Career Expo 2002, for music students, music college alumni, and anyone interested in a music career. The Expo takes place on Saturday, April 6, 2002 from 11:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. at the Hynes Convention Center, 900 Boylston Street, Boston. Attendees are encouraged to pre-register for the Expo, which continues to draw large crowds each year.

Admission at the door is on a space-available basis, and is $15 for students with high school or college ID ($10 in advance), $25 for Berklee alumni ($15 in advance), and $35 for the general public ($25 in advance). President of A&M Records, Ron Fair will deliver the Expo's keynote address. The address is sponsored by Berklee's Music Business/Management program under the auspices of the Zafris Lecture Series. The annual James G. Zafris, Jr. Distinguished Lecture Series for Music Business/Management is dedicated to topics that are timely and relevant to the music industry.

At the Expo, panels of music professionals will discuss real-world strategies for success in all realms and genres of the contemporary music industry, and provide answers based on their expertise in a variety of music-related fields. Panel topics will include “How To Get The Big Gig"; “How Close Is The Future Anyhow?"; “Record This: Skills for Today's Studio"; “Writer Royalties: What You Need to Know"; “A&R Demo Derby" (for which musicians are encouraged to bring their demos, on CD format only), and others.

Roundtable sessions will provide more focused, small-group interactions with individual panelists. These roundtables will be led by industry representatives and will cover a variety of music career options and topics including “Music Therapy"; “The Real Deal About Music Licensing: How to Make Money with your Music"; “The Art of Record Production"; and musical outlooks for “the Nashville Scene", “the New York Scene" and “the Los Angeles Scene".
