Musical presentations by: Dr. Randy Weston / Randy Weston African Rhythms - National Endowment of Arts Jazz Master, vocalist Pauline Jean - New York native of Haitian parentage (influenced by Sarah Vaughan, Nina Simone, Toto Bissainthe) and True Theory - a youth jazz band with a neo-soul/R&B/jazz flavor.

Weusi, chairman Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium states, This year we celebrate our 9th anniversary with a theme of Jazz & Its African Elements, which builds on the African foundations of this music, Jazz. The program will consist of an intergenerational music concert and presentations of our Founders Award which honors pioneers of cultural traditions who have built institutions to preserve the culture."
CBJC will present its annual Founder's Awards to three members of the arts and culture community whom have enriched the lives of people from central Brooklyn and beyond. They are: Jim Harrison - jazz promoter, Ahnee Sharon Freeman - Grammy nominee, jazz pianist/french horn player and the great jazz saxophonist Frank Foster.
Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium, founded in 1999, is an amalgam of jazz musicians, entertainment venues, patrons of the music, community and faith based organizations. Over the past nine (9) years, they have presented an annual spring festival, established a Brooklyn Jazz Hall of Fame, and produced yearly programs of events and activities that feature local jazz musical talents. CBJC is a nonprofit organization committed to preserving, promoting and supporting jazz music, musicians and programs.
