Agenor Garcia
Agenor Garcia or "Age Garcia" as his friends call him, is a "sound poet". He Usually prefers the absence of formal structure to evoke aesthetics in his music, in addition to, or in place of the prosaic ostensible meaning.
"Music can express far beyond the verb."
Agenor is fascinated by the idea of transforming the formal structure of music, which serves to stimulate the expressiveness of his performance. He cherishes the wonder and surprise that can occur from a spontaneous idea. He listens as ideas unfold, which inspires him to the next movement, but dislikes the classic concept of "improvisation" as well the term "playing by ear".
"Everybody plays by ear unless they are deaf."
Although he says that it is almost impossible not to be influenced, Garcia tries to be a stylistic individual, only concerned with technics that lead to a better texture. He often uses "free tempo" as aesthetic language, stretching the time of a single note and using rhythmic patterns as the main subject, while the melody and harmony surround as an embellishment.
This method is also noticeable in the duos, where the piano and the guest instrument continually exchange roles, providing an ornamental tapestry. Most of Garcia's methods are, above all, to create an atmosphere where you can almost "see the mood". He says that music is most effective when you feel something visual, almost tactile. It's also perceptible the "spaces" in his music, where the silence serves to accomplish emotions rather than anything else.
"Silence also expresses emotions, and can be a way to relay a message."
His music is not a result of rational thinking but an expression of ineffable feelings. For him, the notion of "order in life", is the abstract one, so art always can be left for interpretation.

"Garcia has a gift for injecting subtle surprises into his compositions that will delight the attentive listener. The fluidity of his solo passages and a strong commitment to melody sometimes conceal some of the harmonic and rhythmic shifts he uses, but those are precisely the elements that establish Garcia as a jazz talent in the lineage of Bill Evans and Keith Jarrett”. -Shaun Dale (JazzReview.com).
