Manolo Cabras

Born in Cagliari, Manolo starts his musical studies at the age of 11 as a classical violinist at the Conservatory. Soon enough he picks up the bass and takes his first higher degree in Jazz in Sienna, he also assists to several classes with masters like Dave Holland, Mirouslav Vitous and Palle Danielsson, among others.

 His professional carreer takes him from Bologna to Holland – where he takes his second higher degree, a Master at the Conservatory The Hague-  to finally settle in Brussels where becomes a solid part of the Belgian jazz scene.

 Performing with: Ben Sluijs Quartet, ‘Toots Thielemans Quartet’, Manuel Hermia’ trio,‘Chris Joris Quartet’, ‘Frederik Desmyter Quartet (feat. John Ruocco)’, ‘Pierre Vaiana Quartet’ and ‘Erik Vermeulen trio’, Eve Bouvens Heptatomic, and many others.

During all this time, Manolo has appeared on various jazz festivals in Europe and Asia at the sides of; Enrico Rava,Toots Thielamans, Charles Gayle, Marshall Allen, Roswell Rud, Maria Pia De Vito, Marc Murphy, Jasper Blom, Ack Van Rooyen, Jesse van Ruller, Wolfert Brederode, among many others

Currently he leads his own projects like ‘Fuzzy’ , ‘Manolo Cabras Quartet’ (J. Estievenaert/N. Andrioli/M. Patrman), ‘Thelenyon Theory’ with visual artist Claudia Ignoto and ‘Flying Nimbus’ with Lynn Cassiers.

He’s part of bands like: Orange Moon, Manu Hermia Freetet, Maak Eletrik, Erik Vermeulen Trio, Lynn Cassiers ‘YUN’, Oriol Roca Trio, Giovanni Di Domenico New Movement, Gaspard Sicx Trio.
