Rachelle Garniez ha dalla sua tanta ironia da vendere. Nata a New York, è inciampata su una fisarmonica e da quel momento la sua vita è cambiata. Ha cantato, composto, prodotto, suonato dovunque (metropolitane e strade di Manhattan). Ha condiviso, part-time, gli studi con tanti artisti (Marvin Sewell Group, Rufus Wainwright), ha formato una band (The Fortunate Few) e registrato tre CD prima di questo Melusine Years.

Di più non poteva, tranne che consegnarci questa nuova prova che sta alle ubriacanti gentilezze stile Tom Waits come il cacio sui maccheroni (“Tourmaline”, “Blue Blue Grass of Home”). Gli odori, gli umori che sprizza dalla sua fisarmonica hanno il profumo delicato dei primi soli primaverili (“Back In The Day”), i brividi di freddo di albe passate ad aspettare che qualcosa accadesse (“After the After Party”).

Di desolati e silenziosi e blueseggianti scenari alla Paris Texas (“Shoemaker’s Children”). Insomma la ragazza con fisarmonica al seguito è terribile. La sua voce è come un vecchio coltello sdentato, la sua ironia brucia più dell’acido (“The Best Revenge”, “Pre-Post Apocalypse”).

Matt Munisteri (banjo e chitarre) e David Hofstra (basso acustico e tuba) colorano le sue sghembe idee. Il suo romanticismo stonato è merce davvero rara.
