Jazz historian Scott Yanow says "The trio is quite tight with consistently close interplay between the musicians even when they essay tricky rhythmic pieces." Jazz Weekly says "Playful playing. Even though you’re told ahead of time that the focus is on various beats and accents, the songs never feel like they are an exercise in gimmickry for its own sake."
