About the Album
“Improkofiev" is the title track from Stéphane Spira’s playful, inventive and soulful album of the same name, out June 19, 2020 on Jazzmax. On the lyrical, wide-ranging album, French soprano saxophonist Spira and Italian-born, Paris-based pianist Giovanni Mirabassi reunite. This is the pair’s first collaboration in a decade, and the album features a new quartet, Spirabassi, with bassist Steve Wood and drummer Donald Kontomanou.
