About the Album

/// ROSARIO DI ROSA BASIC PHONETICS CROSSROAD BLUES Rosario Di Rosa: piano, celesta, arp odyssey, korg ms20, microkorg, electronics Sarah Stride: voice, live electronics Carlo Nicita: piccolo, flute, bass flute Alberto N.A. Turra: electric guitar, baritone electric guitar Davide Bussoleni: drums /// Preceded by the electronic music EP "Un Cielo Pieno Di Nuvole" which constituted the prequel or the preparatory phase, CROSSROAD BLUES is a concept album of electroacoustic jazz (in the most contemporary meaning of the term) whose composition, developed over the course of several years, it is inspired by a series of reflections and questions on the psychological and synthesis processes that come into play in the conception of any work of genius with significant contents that can be defined as art. Examples of "maladjusted" personalities such as Thelonious Monk, Syd Barrett, Vincent Van Gogh, Carlo Gesualdo, etc., whose "folly" connotes their works with uniqueness and logical-creative rigor, are the demonstration of how certain experiences that lead to define the personality and style of those who abandon themselves to art with extreme sincerity. Starting from these considerations, the author investigates and observes in an introspective way the sublimation of personal experiences in a music that can narrate them creatively highlighting the relationship between the rational part (the structures, the writing, the thematic developments) and creative part (the improvisation, thematic ideas, words) of the brain. It is a constant and evolving motion, from inside to outside, from nocturnal worlds of electronic sounds towards an ideal twilight (the last composition, "Dusk", by Andrew Hill) that can be glimpsed in the distance. The title of the famous song by Robert Johnson is therefore characterized by new meanings and at the same time more archaic than ever. It is an ideal crossroads of the mind that stands before us and in which the meaning and meaning of the blues, as an ancient song of pain, finds a different definition, personal and, if desired, shared.
