Questa dell'Eli Degibri Trio è proprio la classica incisione live da jazz club. Ricca di energia, a tratti eccitante, spesso muscolare, soprattutto nel sax tenore del leader, spettacolare, con più di una concessione alla platea e alla... routine.

Ma Live at Louis 649 contiene motivi di interesse non sempre riscontrabili in questo tipo di registrazione. A partire dall'uso minimalista dell'Hammond B3, che utilizzato usualmente in lunghe cavalcate e con largo uso di effetti roboanti, assume qui contorni soffusi, camaleontici, discretamente liquidi, moderatamente churchy, grazie alle geniali intuizione di Gary Versace, sempre più un riferimento obbligato per quanto riguarda l'uso della storica tastiera elettrica.

Per continuare con una splendida "I Fall in Love Too Easily," metafisica, impalpabile, cool, sorprendente, che fa da opportuno contraltare ad una versione spagnoleggiante ed invero sopra le righe di " Every Time We Say Goodbye ," il secondo standard dell'album.
