Lorena Favot: Landscapes

Il nuovo disco di Lorena Favot conferma le brillanti doti della cantante friulana, a suo agio tanto nel vocalizzare e improvvisare in scat quanto nel calarsi in ruoli più tradizionali. A questo aggiunge un significativo apporto come autrice in sette delle dieci composizioni dell'album. Con timbro nitido, puntualità d'intonazione e gusto interpretativo, Lorena spazia dalla canzone pop a quella folk, dall'universo latino a quello prettamente jazzistico. In quest'ultimo ambito ha fatto parte dell'Orchestra Phophonix e collaborato con U.T. Gandhi, Massimo De Mattia e altri musicisti dell'area triveneta.

La collaborazione col chitarrista Gaetano Valli si dimostra ancora una volta felice e caratterizza da subito il percorso del disco con l'interpretazione di "Diagonals," un tema frizzante esposto all'unisono voce/chitarra che vede il fantasioso assolo della cantante in scat e quello successivo di Valli. Segue la ricercata esecuzione (ancora vocalizzata) del cantabile "Blade," che evidenzia il prezioso contributo di Mauro Costantini Organ Five. Il pianista è anche coautore dei due bei temi successivi, lo swingante "Hot Chocolate" e il riflessivo "Blossoming."
Accanto ai felici originals successivi, troviamo l'intensa versione voce/percussioni di "Caminho das águas," brano del compositore e cantante brasiliano Rodrigo Maranhão.
