I tre protagonisti del disco—il pianista Bill O'Connell, il bassista Lincoln Goines e il batterista Robby Ameen—sono stati a lungo partner del flautista Dave Valentin, scomparso nel marzo 2017 a cui hanno già dedicato tributi. Sono musicisti di valore che si conoscono bene e ribadiscono un'appartenenza stilistica influenzata dalle musiche latine ma prettamente jazzistica. Il taglio espressivo è chiaro sin dal titolo del disco e viene rinforzato da rilevanti ospiti, i più noti dei quali sono il trombettista Randy Brecker, il sassofonista Craig Handy e il trombonista Conrad Herwig.

La maggior parte dei brani evidenzia un brioso modern mainstream intriso di sonorità elettriche e tempi danzanti o serrati. Fanno eccezione il cantabile ”Goodbye My Friend” con Brecker al flicorno (dedicato a un altro partner scomparso di recente, il batterista Kim Plainfield) ed ancora ”Mom's Song” e ”Zingaro”, il flessuoso tema di Jobim. Il momento più incline alle forme tipiche del latin jazz è ”Puttin' on the Ritz”, esaltato da un vivace assolo di Herwig.

Non c'è molto da aggiungere. Un album fresco, ritmicamente vivace e con ottimi assoli.
