Tierney Sutton: I'm With The Band
ByThe bulk of this live outing highlights the group's blithe, breezy, and up-tempo jazz grooves. Sutton's highly noticeable verve and charisma is enacted with a touch of sophisticated elegance that is counterbalanced by the group's thoroughly entertaining presentation. It must have been an exciting set, partly due to the quintet's tuneful choruses and razor-sharp unison runs. But on "The Lady Is a Tramp, Sutton rather diligently injects a smidgeon of grit and chutzpah into her delivery. Hence she creates a mood that summons up notions of an after-hours performance at a swanky Manhattan cocktail lounge. Simply stated, it's a winner! (Zealously recommended...)
