Haffner sembra conoscere in dettaglio le musiche che fanno da sottofondo alla nostra quotidianità e così sfugge alla banalità cambiando atmofera e fonte di ispirazione da un brano all'altro. Lo stesso fa con gli ospiti, fra i quali si distingue in particolare un intenso Chuck Loeb.
Heart of the Matter è un disco che si potrebbe definire effimero, comunque molto piacevole e ben curato.
