Jon Gordon: Currents
Già alla sua uscita l'album ha avuto un notevole risonanza ricevendo quattro stelle da parte della rivista statunitense Down Beat ed a distanza di anni lo si ascolta come se fosse stato inciso ieri, in un linguaggio, il modern mainstream, che è patrimonio di tanti musicisti più o meno giovani. Quello che lo differenzia dagli altri è la classe esecutiva e la convinzione assoluta in quello che si fa da parte dei musicisti. Anche Bobby Watson, che lo ha ascoltato durante il "Thelonious Monk Award" prende la parola nelle liner notes scrivendo: "I expect him to be a major voice in his instrument bacause he has the vision and the confidence to make it happen". Gli ultimi album , Contrasts e The Things You Are(insieme alla decisione di documentare la musica su una propria label) hanno confermato quelle affermazioni.
