Mattia Cigalini: Beyond

Nel suo nuovo lavoro da leader Mattia Cigalini è affiancato da musicisti di livello assoluto, sia tecnico sia espressivo, come Bebo Ferra, Stefano Bagnoli e Riccardo Fioravanti. La scaletta di Beyond si apre con "Nobody Like Us," uno dei tre originali in programma, e si sviluppa attraverso le riletture di brani recenti provenienti dalle aree tematiche rock-pop.

Cigalini pesca dai repertori di artisti come Katy Perry, Rihanna e Lady Gaga per dare forma alla sua fantasiosa opera di rilettura, proponendo un suono d'insieme fresco e intrigante, nel quale a farla da padrone è la cura delle melodie e dell'aspetto ritmico. Il sassofonista riesce a fare suo il repertorio, raramente battuto dai suoi colleghi jazzisti, con coraggio e determinazione, facendosi guidare dalla emozione e dalle proprie passioni.

Sopra le righe si rivela il contributo di Bebo Ferra, abile nel risultare l'ideale catalizzatore nei frangenti più aggressivi, come in "On the Floor". Il leader mette in fila melodie cantabili e coinvolgenti, come quella di "Bad Romance", e riesce con la title-track (tema nato in occasione dell'estremo saluto dato alla madre) a dare forma a un frangente di rara intensità espressiva.
