Actis Furioso: Avanti Popolo!

Sgargiante come le tuniche della cover, irriverente come il titolo che porta (in tempi di caccia alle streghe, come questi, non si sa mai), roboeggiante e chiassoso come le tessiture scelte, Avanti Popolo! è la quintessenza live del più divertente e divertito sassofonista che il mondo ci invidia: Carlo Actis Dato, versione Actis Furioso.

Registrato in larga parte - sei brani su nove - a Torino un paio di anni fa e il resto, ancora prima, al D'Jazz Festival a Never, Francia, il CD è pieno di gorgheggi, borbottamenti d'ancia e bocchino, tamburrellamenti festaioli e soluzioni d'arrangiamento a metà strada tra la cultura bandistica più sbracata e genialoide e la tambureggiante e pirotecnica estetica della "mosica": vedi alla voce Antonio De Curtis, in arte Totò.

L'ostinato in 6/8 di "Perdasdefogu" getta le basi del progetto per soli fiati e percussioni. Un po' dopo: "Mar Tirreno" e "Oltremare" ci fanno capire cosa significhi la tradizione popolare italiana. "Djolibà" e "Haiti Serenade" si spingono, a suon di riff, assoli e onomatopeiche invenzioni (ottimi Di Filippo, Calabrese, Rigoletto, Ponzo, Romeo, Malfatto e la magnifica "macchina da guerra" delle percussioni), verso le coste africane e afroamericane, quasi a sottolineare un tragitto di congiunzione ancestrale che parte, però, dal "bel paese", curva sud.

Tutto il resto, che non è poco ("Le Poulet Télévisé", "Hotel Balimà", "Portorico Smog", "Melanconico cha-cha" ), è il completamento di un disco trasversale e rude, anarchico e punkeggiante.

Avanti Popolo! è un carrarmato timbrico, insomma, che travolge le aspettattive e i luoghi comuni di orecchie fin troppo impoltronite e schiave della solita minestra accomodante (jazz compreso).

Che dire: Ascoltatori! Alla riscossa...
