Caprice Records continues its impressive chronological survey of the growth and development of Jazz in Sweden with Volume 8 in the series, this one covering the years 1956-59. Volume 7 (1952-56) was subtitled “The Golden Years," and although the Swedish Jazz scene wasn't quite as vibrant in '56-59 there are golden performances here by such luminaries as saxophonists Lars Gullin, Arne Domnérus, Gösta Theselius, Bjarne Nerem, Carl-Henrik Norin and Rolf Blomquist; trumpeters Rolf Ericson, Bengt-Arne Wallin and Jan Allan; clarinetists ...
