Il nome, abbreviato, del New York Standards Quartet rimanda all'intento di riproporre in chiave contemporanea i classici della tradizione jazzistica. La decennale esperienza concertistica e discografica cui allude il titolo del CD sostiene un interessante vocabolario armonico, con una grande attenzione per il dettaglio e la costruzione della frase solistica. Lo dimostra emblematicamente la swingante rilettura di “Lush Life" per riassumere l'essenza del jazz: comunicativa, swing, capacità di trasmettere profonde emozioni racchiuse nell'attimo irripetibile di ammalianti improvvisazioni estemporanee.
