Album Description
A time machine that will make you travel through fifty years of music, incredibly mixing styles and songs that are apparently very distant from each other. This and much more is “Timeless”, Giuliano Ligabue’s new album available from September 16, 2022 on all digital stores and physical CD. The 10 tracks included in the album, see the Crooner and Guitarist try his hand at this new record with songs that have literally made the history of music from the early 50s to the 2000s and he does it, as always, with great class and elegance, sewing on himself these timeless melodies, skilfully blending Jazz, Latin rhythms, R&B and Pop. The album opens with Gold, the famous 80s hit by Spandau Ballet which is proposed in a personal reinterpretation in a Swing key with an energetic arrangement for big band. We continue with the tribute to Frank Sinatra with a Bossa / Lounge version of Strangers In the Night, then another temporal jump that takes us back to the 80s with The Way You Make Me Feel by Michael Jackson with a version full of Swing and Rhythm and Blues. In this travel, Italian music could not be missing with two masterpieces, the beautiful Quando by Pino Daniele proposed in the Rumba / Bossa version and a swinging Volare (Nel blu painted di blu). We continue with an orchestral version of Close to You by the great Burt Bacharach, then be immediately catapulted into 2000 where we find Sex Bomb with a high-impact arrangement that transforms Tom Jones’s hit into a roaring Shuffle Swing with a retro mood. But Timeless is not only “big band sound”, in fact there are also two “goodies” voice and 7-string guitar, When I Fall in Love and Wave where Giuliano honor respectively Nat King Cole and Antonio Carlos Jobim with two intimate versions . The album ends with the famous Isn’t She Lovely by Stevie Wonder transformed into a Shuffle Blues where Giuliano gives more space than the other songs to guitar virtuosity combined with an impeccable “scat”. «I conceived Timeless partially during the lockdown, in that time I tried to open my imagination by rearranging great hits from various eras by making versions in completely different musical styles from the original, so I thought to honor some great singers and musicians in my own way, as I had already done in part in my previous album “Ci può stare”. In this case, however, I wanted to dare more by imagining impossible encounters between various artists and musical genres belonging to different styles from the originals, trying to surprise the listener».
