Massimo De Mattia: found objects

Album Description

The Monster is imploding, nature is ready to digest it.
But the Monster is still alive, and a diverse humanity participates and spreads analog life, carving paths among the branches. Can you hear it, too? (From the liner notes by Stefano Raspa) The Monster is the Makò of Cordenons (North East of Italy), an industrial complex of historical and architectural significance, built in 1865 for cotton processing. Once a place of production, today it is an industrial relic, abandoned since 1989, left to time and its decay. In July 2023, Massimo De Mattia traversed these spaces in a solitary performance, without an audience, armed only with his flute and the complicity of objects left behind by time and chance: iron, glass, plastics, asbestos, wood, and fabrics, all consumed by oblivion. Broken, shattered, worn, and crumbled materials accompanied the flutist’s sonic incursion, bearing witness to a stratified memory. To Massimo, the Makò told its story and its present.
