Album Description

The Sencalar/Glassman Quintet is excited to release their debut album, “Realization.” This album is the result of a collaboration between the two leaders, Altin Sencalar and Chris Glassman. The two wanted to write music that identified their time as growing musicians while in school. The album symbolizes a cathartic experience that connects with the listener reminding them of a time of growth within their life. The album features some of jazz music’s veterans like Rodney Whitaker, former Jazz at Lincoln Center bassist, Roy Hargrove, Kenny Garrett, and Michael Dease, trombonist for David Sandborn, Christian McBride Big Band, among others. Rising stars Addison Frei, Zachary Adleman, and Nathan Borton also make important contributions. The album is inspired by the bebop tradition but incorporates modern textures and arrangements. The jazz standards on the album are arranged by active performers, Steve Davis, Randy Napoleon, Jason Hainsworth, and Joseph Herbst. The album pays homage to the great tradition and pushes the envelope with the unorthodox front line of tenor and bass trombone.
