This talented group covers styles from bebop to Latin Jazz. Johnny Padilla, featured on tenor saxophone and flute, leads his group on performances of Jay Beckenstein's Shaker Song, Chick Corea's Spain, Mario Bauza's Mambo Inn Steve Kuhn's The Real Guitarist in the House, Don Grollnick's Nothing Personal, Henry Mancini's Days of WIne and Roses and a reading of Havona composed by master-bassist Jaco Pastorious. The Jazz standards When Sunny Gets Blue and My Funny Valentine are rendered as ballads. The original composition Key West, by Johnny Padilla, features David Clot on guitar and rounds out the recording with a popping groove.
