Album Description
After Dreamtime and On the Move, Šmoldas' stellar New York trio consisting of Adam Nussbaum on drums and Jay Anderson on double bass comes with an atmospheric album entitled Dusk. This time it's a record with a theme - eleven of Libor's compositions will take you through the period of one day from dawn (Crack of Dawn) to midnight (Dead of Night).
Unlike in previous recordings, Šmoldas uses a telecaster-type electric guitar does not play with a pick, using only a finger picking technique. He thus creates a sound full of harmony and color, which Nussbaum and Anderson take to yet another level. Dusk was recorded in the spring of 2019, printed and produced at the end of 2020, delayed due to the pandemic pause.
The album was launched in Prague in 2021 as part of the Jazz Meets World festival and at the Brno Jazz Fest the same year. Dusk was published by NEWPORTLINE Lukáš Martínek took care of the sound, photography was by Jan Pohribný and Neil Swanson, design by Yvone Baalbaki.
