Hugo Blouin and his orchestra celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Charbonneau inquiry commission with a 2nd volume of “Les valeurs à’ bonne place”. The album rises from the archives of Quebec’s famous political inquiry commission on organized crime, illegal campaign financing and the construction industry, held in Montréal from 2012 to 2015. Its twisted new jazz songs complete the work initiated with the “Volume 1”, winner of the 2018 GAMIQ Jazz Album of the Year Award and the 2019 OPUS Jazz Concert of the Year Award. Everything is now covered with this second opus, from the Mayor’s special breakfasts, to the main whistleblowers – not to forget the remorse of the commission’s own “Rambo”, syndicalist Bernard Gauthier. This musical adventure requires the superpowers of 14 ninjas, including guest guitarist René Lussier, a direct influence on Blouin’s “Valeurs”, on single “La belle grosse chaîne”. With them, 4 singers (Kathryn Samman, Julie Hamelin, Jean- Philippe Loignon et AndréAne Robichaud), a quintet with piano (Jonathan Turgeon), drums (Jean-Philippe Godbout), upright bass (Hugo Blouin), tuba (Julie Houle) and horns (Alex Dodier), and guest singers Sarah Albu, Elizabeth Lima, Gabriel Dharmoo and David Cronkite on “Bien dans ma peau”.
