A Name I Knew is a concept album centered on memory, loss, and Alzheimer's disease. Through compositions that move between contemporary jazz, pop/rock influences, and free improvisation, the music traces moments of lucidity, confusion, tenderness, and disappearance. Rather than illustrating illness directly, the album explores what remains when certainty fades: emotional memory, human connection, and the echoes of lived experience. The quartet treats composition and improvisation as a single evolving language, creating a sound world that is both intimate and unsettled.
