10 Miles: the vision

10 Miles was inspired by a ten-mile walk back home, filmed as people returned north towards Gaza without knowing what they would find at the end. Cameras capture a moment suspended between fear and hope, movement and uncertainty.

The track explores this emotional tension through a meditative yet charged sound world, reflecting on displacement, endurance and fragile optimism.

10 Miles: the music

Musically, 10 Miles draws on Middle Eastern influences, using harmonic minor modes, Arabic melodic elements and a chorus sung in Arabic. The arrangement is built from overlapping vocal and percussive layers, creating a hypnotic, evolving texture.

The result is a piece that feels both intimate and expansive, balancing stillness with a quiet sense of urgency.

10 Miles was entirely written, played, sung, recorded and produced by Alessia Piermarini Salvini.

Mixing and mastering is by Titus Maz.

In live performances, Alessia recreates the track using a loop station, layering vocals and percussion in real time. This approach turns each performance into a living construction of the piece, emphasizing presence, repetition and gradual transformation.

Beyond 10 Miles

10 Miles is part of a small two-track project exploring the same thematic ground. A second release is planned a few weeks after the single, expanding on the emotional and musical landscape introduced here.
