Ada Rovatti: Airbop
Airbop è un disco contagioso e diretto, che non pretende livelli di lettura sofiticati né cela significati reconditi. E’ piacere di suonare allo stato puro, con brani che agganciano al primo ascolto e l’energia liberata dai musicisti che contagia irrimediabilmente.

Se poi, per il terzo lavoro da leader, la sassofonista e compositrice Ada Rovatti si contorna di musicisti come lo scintillante pianista Dave Kikoski, l’implacabile batterista Ben Perowski, per non parlare di ospiti come il marito Randy Brecker ed il sassofonista Bob Mintzer, i giochi sono fatti.

Quella contenuta in Airbop è musica suonata con il piede sull’acceleratore nella miglior tradizione dell’idioma bop aggiornato e personalizzato. Anche se trovano spazio delicate e commoventi ballad, “The Man on The Moon“ dedicata al compianto Bob Berg dichiarato riferimento artistico della Rovatti e “What We Miss“, garbati profumi di calipso, “Shelter Island“, e sinuosi ritmi caraibici , “2-Bros”, con un grande Mintzer al clarinetto basso.

Ada Rovatti non ha la pretesa di rivoluzionare il linguaggio jazzistico, ma possiede talento, grinta personalità da vendere, una felice vena compositiva, sicure doti di leader, ed Airbop si rivela un significativo spaccato del suo mondo musicale.
