Diego Imparato: 70's Soundtracks

È perlomeno inusuale che nell’epoca del compact-disc e relativo abbattimento delle barriere temporali dettate dal vecchio vinile, un musicista licenzi un album che supera appena i trentacinque minuti di durata.

Ma 70’s Soundtracks, il progetto di Diego Imparato, giovane bassista napoletano diplomato al conservatorio D.Cimarosa di Avellino, nel suo dichiarato omaggio alle atmosfere musicali di più o meno immaginari movies anni ’70, rimane fedele anche ai limiti fisici imposti dai supporti dell’epoca.

E questa risulta una scelta vincente, che allontana da inutili sfilacciature o noiose lungaggini per privilegiare pennellate di colore, bozzetti sonori che ricreano quel mood particolare, il suono di un periodo e di un fenomeno musicale in piena rivalutazione.

La scelta di Imparato va nella direzione della sobrietà di toni, dell’accuratezza degli arrangiamenti, nell’evidente affiatamento della formazione, nel talento dei solisti messo al servizio del collettivo, come nel caso del chitarrista Antonio Onorato, o dello stesso leader che si ritaglia spazi solistici mai invadenti e assolutamente funzionali alla struttura dei brani.

Indovinato risulta l’utilizzo del clarinetto basso la cui sonorità crea interessanti impasti timbrici con il Fender Rhodes, così come di buon gusto risultano i volumi sonori creati dalla sezione fiati. Un disco sincero, onesto e piacevole da ascoltare.
