Jordi Rossy Trio: Wicca

Non si tratta di omonimia. Il pianista Jordi Rossy che troviamo alla testa di questo trio è proprio quel Jordi Rossy, ovvero il batterista del trio di Brad Mehldau. Complimenti vivissimi a Rossy, sinceri e dovuti, per la perizia che lo spagnolo mostra su entrambi gli strumenti. E però le nostre felicitazioni si fermano qui.

Perchè Wicca non è certo un album memorabile. Il fraseggio di Rossy ricorda troppo quello di Mehldau, di cui però il nostro non ha né la sensibilità melodica, né l'afflato romantico, né il tocco superlativo. In breve, Rossy non ha né la classe né il talento di Mehldau. Nulla di male in questo. In fondo Rossy è un batterista. Ma dato che qui si propone come pianista, come pianista lo valutiamo.

Quanto all'album, si denota una netta prevalenza di mezzi tempi, un ampio uso delle spazzole da parte di R.J. Miller, un intreccio tra il pianoforte e l'organo che pare accomodante, incapace di sfruttare appieno le potenzialità di questa atipica formula timbrica. In breve, un album che scorre via tra inutilità e noia, senza lasciare alcun segno. Quasi preoccupato di non disturbare.
