The Bob Florence Limited Edition: Whatever Bubbles Up
"Dukism" is what one would expect, a lengthy guitar introduction over the standard rhythm section of drums and bass. The band approaches slowly, insinuating itself into the intimacy of the trio before exploding. The remainder consists of twelve minutes of riff-based big band, intricately composed and performed. "Never Endings" and "Running With Scissors" also sport this same jaunty style, with brash trumpet and trombone solos and Florence's understated piano. A superb big band outing.
