Merega / Kaplan / Cappelli: Watch the Wall Instead

Cinque brani sono eseguiti da basso elettrico, chitarra elettrica e sassofoni rispettivamente suonati da Giacomo Merega, Marco Cappelli e Noah Kaplan, negli altri sette si aggiunge il pianoforte di Anthony Coleman e in due vi è la presenza del violino di Marco Pagani. Un ex PFM insieme a due musicisti italiani, ormai newyorchesi di adozione, felicemente coinvolti nella scena avant locale, un giovane e promettente sassofonista, apprezzato sostenitore e interprete del sistema micro-tonale ed una leggenda della scena downtown come Anthony Coleman. E' questa la formazione, l'insieme eterogeneo di talenti e di musicisti dalla mente aperta che licenzia un album sorprendente, fuori dall'ordinario, ostico, misterioso come Watch the Wall Instead.

Nessuna traccia scritta, nessun canovaccio apparente, ciascuno dei musicisti impegnato in una ricerca che sembra del tutto personale e autonoma, ciascuna mente che segue il filo dei propri pensieri incurante di quello che gli succede intorno. Sculture sonore che vibrano e disturbano pudicamente il silenzio, plasmato da strumenti che diventano pensieri fluidi ben oltre l'intrinseca limitazione fisica, liberi di immaginare mondi possibili e impossibili.

Eppure, alla fine, dal caos cosmico che si genera per autocombustione, dal disordine che scompiglia e disorienta, dalla mancanza di certezze e riferimenti, nasce una sorta di armonia metafisica che affascina e conquista.
