Eddie Floyd

Born: June 25, 1935

Eddie Floyd (born Eddie Lee Floyd, 25 June 1935, Montgomery, Alabama ) is a soul/R&B singer and songwriter, best known for his work on the Stax record label in the 1960s and 1970s. Floyd was born in Alabama, but grew up in Detroit, Michigan. He founded The Falcons, which also featured "Sir" Mack Rice. They were forerunners to future Detroit vocal groups such as The Temptations and The Four Tops. Their 1959 hit "You're So Fine" has been said by some to have been the first true Soul song. Wilson Pickett was then recruited into the group and sang lead on the group's next success, "I Found a Love"

Aniya

A creative and subtle jazz and ballad vocalist, Aniya puts a lot of heart and feeling into the lyrics that she sings. Her warm and quietly expressive voice is heard regularly in the Los Angeles area. When she was 18, Aniya started working in Tokyo nightclubs as a singer-pianist, mostly performing pop music. After she graduated from college, she had an opportunity to perform at a Japanese nightclub in San Francisco for a few months. After returning home, she soon returned to California, moving to Los Angeles where she studied at the Dick Grove School Of Music. Sue Raney was one of the vocal teachers and Aniya was greatly moved by her singing which inspired her to sing jazz. Monica Hatch

Born and raised in Connecticut in a family of nine children, Monica Hatch was drawn to both classical music and jazz from the beginning of her musical journey. Influenced by her parents’ love of music (her father was a pianist and fiddler, her mother was a soprano in the church choir), she listened to her father’s recordings of Meade Lux Lewis, Oscar Peterson and Dave Brubeck while learning the music of Handel, Vivaldi, Schubert and more. Monica was also introduced to many other jazz legends during her teen years including Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Mary Lou Williams, Paul Desmond, Wes Montgomery, Herbie Hancock, Freddie Hubbard and more

Vocalist Jane Irving has spent most of her life surrounded by music. Initially a childhood classical piano student, she discovered jazz in her late teens. The combination of studied learning and a natural feel for jazz, helped Irving begin to understand the potential of the voice as an instrument for pure self expression. Irving was born in Sydney, Australia. She began classical piano studies at the age of 6 which continued to the end of school. “When I was 14 my parents started sending me to jazz camps in the school holidays. Letta Mbulu

Letta Mbulu - South African vocalist, composer Letta Mbulu was born and raised in Soweto, South Africa. Still in her teens, Letta began touring outside of Africa with the musical "King Kong," which ran for a year in England following a highly successful two-year run in South Africa. When the tour ended, she returned to South Africa but soon the policies of Apartheid were to force her to leave her native land for the U.S.A. She arrived in the United States in 1965 and quickly befriended such fellow South African exiles in New York City as Miriam Makeba, Hugh Masekela and Jonas Gwangwa - all alumni of the "King King" musical

Deborah Shulman, Singer, Recording Artist, Vocal Coach Growing up in Los Angeles, Deborah Shulman had the great fortune to be nurtured by a family with a very deep passion for music. Her late parents, both singers, lived in the back of their little music store at Carnegie Hall as newlyweds; her father had aspirations of joining the Metropolitan Opera before WWII intervened in his plan. Kim Prevost Solley

Kim Prevost has been racing the high road to success since winning the 1999 "BET on Jazz" Jazz Discovery Award. She has performed with musical greats like Arturo Sandoval, Bobby McFerrin, Nicolas Payton, Ed Calle, Sammy Figaroa and Allen Toussaint. Kim is a native of the birthplace of jazz, New Orleans. Being an accomplished vocalist and songwriter, she has worked in all facets of the entertainment industry.
