Leon Ware

Born: February 6, 1940

A music maker for four decades, Leon's list of impressive credits includes classic recordings by Quincy Jones, Minnie Riperton, Michael Jackson, Maxwell, Average White Band and of course, the late Marvin Gaye (whose Ware-written and produced "I Want You" LP remains a seminal Motown album). The hypnotically evocative "Loceans" expresses a romantic love and lust for life. In the tradition of his prior recordings and work with others, songs on the new album like "Just Take Your Time," "Hold Tonight" and "Smoovin'" are love-filled odes, a heady mix of fantasy and reality. The 12-track collection of new Ware-produced material will be in stores on August 12, 2008. Moon Ride is the Detroit native's first major label album in over two decades and represents the culmination of a very active period in Leon's career

Angie Contini

Angie Contini is a performer and songwriter living in Sydney, with a diverse background in music, dance, theatre, and cabaret. While working as a jazz and blues singer, she has gradually developed a repertoire that reflects on the forms of swing, blues, gospel, and vaudeville. With a lyrical style that both embraces and augments these genres, Angie’s music is a foray into jungle-juice swing, haunting melancholy, observational mania, matters of the heart and delectable story-telling. Angie’s performances and recordings feature a fine selection of Sydney jazz musicians who are formidable performers in their own right, including Leonie Cohen (piano), Stan Valacos (double bass), Matt Baker (piano), Nigel date (guitar), Adrian Cunningham (sax/clarinet), Mark Howard (double bass, Matt Gruebner(double bass) and Tim Bradley (drums). Scarlet Balanga

The SCARLET BALANGA project starts from the passion and the experiences of Rossella Piccolo (vocals and nylon-string guitar) and Giovanni Caruso (guitars), who gathered their contributions to explore their musical backgrounds, of various origin, and find their own way through the music world; Daniele Buttaro (piano and keyboards) followed them widening the horizon of the project, also with his experience in arranging the songs. The main feature of the project is an open view to the various influences of the band, with no close-ups about any particular musical form, so that the result is free from a steady classification, leaving each time the ground free for all sorts of fusion of different instincts, such as latin and mediterranean rhythms, popular and ethnic music, jazz, bluesy moods, funky to rock grooves, all mixed in a natural way that leaves each single the original item recognizable still indeed creating a new resulting sound

Anita Pollard

Born: March 20, 1966

Born in Perth, Western Austraia. Living in Sydney since 1991. Started singing in my thirties, apart from a triumphant run as Calamity Jane in Highschool. Studied with Raymond Long, Amander Colliver, Joy Yates (Sydney Conservatorium of Music) & Kerrie Biddell. Also studied briefly with Jay Clayton in New York. Oct 2009 released EP 'Chandelier'. Stuart Rosh

Born: July 19, 1956

Stuart Rosh (born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin) is a songwriter and singer who lives in San Francisco. Over the years he’s lived in Italy, Israel and throughout the US. The child of Polish/Ukrainian immigrants and Holocaust survivors, Stuart grew up listening to and performing Yiddish (his first language), Russian and religious music. From the age of three until about twelve, he was obsessed with top 40 pop. Then he heard Muddy Waters and Miles Davis, and his taste moved from pop into the world of jazz, blues, and cabaret. A former geophysics professor, Stuart Rosh put out three CDs this past decade, one solo and two with his band, The Geniuses

Punah

Born: October 13, 1975

Punah Gabasiane knew she was a natural performer at a young age. Growing up in Serowe, Punah would mime Brenda Fassie songs to entertain her family. Her confidence and star-quality continued to develop in boarding school when fellow classmates would ask her to sing for them in their dormitories. Punah decided to seriously pursue her love of dancing and performing when she joined the Ditholwana Traditional Troupe as a traditional dancer over ten years ago. With the troupe, Punah first experienced the pride of representing her country on the international stage as she performed at the SADC Music Festival in Harare as part of the Ditholwana Traditional Dance Troupe

James Martocci

Born: March 8, 1949

Jim Martocci began his singing career as a member of NYC’s St. Patrick’s Cathedral Boys Choir in 1958. He bought his first jazz record, Miles’ “ESP” in 1965, and has loved jazz ever since. After the musicals (Fiddler, Damn Yankees) and chorus music (New Jersey Choral Society), he has returned to jazz as Jimmie Divine, and has performed at the Lenox Lounge, Cleopatra’s Needle, Winberie’s Bistro, @SEAPORT! and many other met area venues. His latest venture is the Jimmie Divine Quartet, featuring Takeshi Asai,Piano, Lou Pappas,Bass, and Jon Berger,Drums.

Sabrina Lastman

Born: October 4, 1973

Vocalist, creator and educator born in Montevideo, Uruguay. Sabrina moved to Israel in 1999, and since 2005 she is living in New York. She was selected to participate in the Professional Training Workshop Monk on Monk: Vocal Works of Meredith Monk organized by The Weill Music Institute at Carnegie Hall, performing at Zankel Hall, Carnegie Hall in January 2006. She has played at the New York City Classical Guitar Society, Queen Sofia Institute, Martin E. Segal Theatre, Cornelia Street Cafe, and Blues Alley Jazz, among others. She has performed with the Tali Roth Trio, Pablo Aslán, Fernando Otero, José Pedro Beledo, Jorge Camiruaga, Gustavo Casenave, Pedro Giraudo, Emilio Solla, David Silliman and Don Harris, and others
