Maria Katindig-Dykes

Maria hails from one of the Philippines' most renowned family of musicians, the Jazz and Latin performers know collectively as the Katindig clan. (Her father is the legendary jazz pianist, Romy Katindig; her brother is international smooth jazz star, Boy Katindig; and her uncle is the sax great, Eddie K). In the family music business since the age of 16, Maria has performed a wide variety of musical styles, but her true passion is for jazz and bossa nova. In the Philippines, Maria’s credits include a stint with the Circus Band, a pop- rock ensemble selected to represent the Philippines at the Tokyo Music Festival in the 1970s

Ranjit Arapurakal

Born: March 3, 1978

Ranjit Arapurakal is a breakout vocalist whose range and sensitivity have made him a hit among audiences from New York City to Mumbai, India. Born in the South Indian city of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala and raised in Princeton, NJ, Ranjit found his calling as a vocalist at a young age, performing in Operas at The Westminster Choir College and The Opera Festival of New Jersey, as well as in various school and church choirs. As a youth, he studied with Sue Ellen Page, Joachim Parella, and Dr. Charles Sundquist. At Rutgers University, Ranjit studied Classical Vocal Performance with Frederic Renz, as well as Jazz Theory and History in the Jazz Studies Department of The Mason Gross School of the Arts. Since embarking on his professional career in 2000, Ranjiit has performed in a variety of ensembles and settings all around the world, in such cities as London, Madrid, Bilbao, Barcelona, Paris, Lauzerte, Prague, Mumbai, Berlin, Philadelphia, Washington DC, and New York City, where he currently resides. Every Wednesday, Ranjit performs Jazz Standards at Ella Lounge in manhattan's Lower East Side, accompanied by the one and only Dredd Scott, Piano.

Laurie Early

Born: June 12

Singer-Songwriter Laurie Early has been writing songs since about the age of six. She clearly remembers creating her own lyrics and musical adaptation of The Four Tops’ Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch as she walked to school one Spring morning and realized that she could write a song if she wanted to, it was a truly empowering moment. She has only recently begun performing with a jazz focus but has performed in other styles for over 20 years in the New York metro area. She has begun writing a series of modern jazz pieces, and is studying technique with established musicians in the New York jazz community. Kevin Valentine

Possessing an easy, effortless style that swings, Kevin's treatment of standards conveys an understanding of the culmination of melody, rhythm and lyric. While he loves standards, he does not think that they should be held in such esteem that they cannot grow and evolve. "Standards are not defined as being written between 1910 and 1950, they were just the pop tunes of that day. Rodgers and Hart wrote standards but so did Linda Creed and Thom Bell. Duke Ellington, Stevie Wonder and Sting all composed standards Their pieces will be played 50 years from now and still sound fresh." Kevin says that his pursuit as an artist is to "find those tunes and be part of the presentation that paints the picture with new colors." The Jazz Fauré Project

Paris-born actor/singer Claudia Hommel has brought together a sparkling ensemble with singer extraordinaire Sean Harris, renowned jazz pianist and arranger Bobby Schiff, and some of Chicago's best sidemen: Jim Cox on bass, Tim Davis on drums and Tim McNamara on sax, flute and clarinet. The album also features pianist/arranger Dennis Luxion and Jerry DiMuzio on winds.

Chris Hutchinson

During a career spanning 30 years Chris has built up a well earned reputation on the live music scene in the U.K. and abroad. With his fascinating blend of song and repartee and countless appearances ranging from big bands to duos, Chris sings easy listening, lounge, hard swing and emotionally charged ballads. As well as well-known ( and lesser-known) standards Chris has recently added newly-written numbers to his repertoire. Chris' latest CD is titled "Easy Going Me" and contains the "top ten" from his live gigs, plus three new songs: Easy Going Me, What Goes Around Comes Around, and Along Came You ("the May Day song"). Chris has also revived Madonna Mine, a song once performed by Al Bowlly, in an exciting new arrangement which features violinist Chris Haigh. Chris was recently featured on a Channel 4 documentary about his father, the legendary cabaret singer "Hutch".

But a person's life is more than the short-form. In Dianna's case what really matters is that she's been beaten up enough by living to have learned to be tough as nails. She's also loved and been loved enough to have learned to temper that with gentleness. She's lost enough to know the value of things and laughed at herself enough not to take it all too seriously
