Akemi Yamada

Born: September 18

Akemi Yamada, a native of Tokyo, has been captivating audiences with her unique "Dreamy Jazz" style in New York City since 2008. She graduated with a BFA in Jazz Vocal Performance from City College of New York in 2007, studying under jazz luminaries including Sheila Jordan, Mike Holober, Ray Santos, and John Patitucci. Her musical education was further enriched by mentorship from Grammy-winning Brazilian jazz singer Luciana Souza.

Akemi's discography includes her debut jazz album "With A Song In My Heart" (2007), showcasing her interpretation of jazz standards, and "Ta Bi Ji -My Journey-" (2015), introducing her original compositions. Additionally, she recorded for renowned flautist Ronald Lashley’s compilation album “Christmas Jingles” in 2014. Her "Dreamy Jazz" style uniquely blends contemporary jazz harmonies with elements of pop, Brazilian music, classical, gospel, and Japanese traditional music, exploring a connection between sophistication and deep emotion. Musical influences include Pat Metheny, Toninho Horta, Carmen McRae, Billie Holiday, Stevie Wonder, Yumi Arai (Matsutoya), and Monday Michiru.

Julie Cresswell

Born: September 1, 1950

a longtime veteran of the music industry, Julie has worked with many legends, almost too numerous to name, from Earl Klugh to Brian Setzer to Stan Getz. An accomplished vocalist, guitarist and lyricist, Julie weaves together her longtime passion for jazz with a warm and engaging vocal quality and a love of lyrical interpretation of the great tunes of the American Songbook through bebop standards, sprinkled with seasonings from contemporary jazz composers, including her own lyrical collaborations with several noteworthy composers, including Ron Anthony, David Eastlee and Rick Stone.

Diane Hoffman

Diane Hoffman was born and raised in Cambridge, Ma. where her maternal grandfather was a working musician. She was drawn to the thriving jazz and folk scene in Cambridge and it was there that the flames of self expression were kindled. Moving to California, she pursued the formal study of fine arts, spending a year of independent work with noted French painter, Jacques Fabert at “El Molino” in Erongaricuaro, Mexico before earning a BFA from the California College of Arts. All the while, she continued to play guitar and sing. She returned east, settled in NY and continued to paint and began a series of solo exhibits

James Hammel

James has had a passion for singing and playing guitar that spans decades. It was in Connecticut that James met Sal Salvador, (a former jazz great), who introduced him to jazz guitar. Sal ultimately challenged James that he belonged in the world of music, and that one day he would be compelled to embrace it completely. For the better part of his adult life, he considered those words to be wishful thinking and his music remained on the sidelines. Instead he took a 20-year detour building and leading large companies. Along the way he wrote pop songs about his life experiences that are part of his repertoire today

Nicola Emmanuelle

The talents of Nicola Emmanuelle have been obvious for some time to the many artists, producers and musical directors who have been using her crystalline voice for studio albums, film and television work, and now the public can enjoy one of the finest voices yet to be signed to a major record label at some of the foremost Jazz venues across London. Having just finished a stint at the Haymarkey Theatre and then on a UK wide tour for most of 2018 playing Ella Fitzgerald in the Rat Parck Live at Las Vegas to rave reviews, Nicola is back to finishing her new album in the studio, writing new original material with a number of co-writers, and performing live around London with her band the Nicola Emmanuelle Quartet. Nicola has a sensational set of songs evoking the work and sound of the original jazz pioneers of the thirties, forties and fifties, along with stunning and beautiful renditions of some of the all time great jazz standards. Coming from a South African jazz dynasty, (her Father Nathan ‘Dambuza’ Mdledle was the founder and lead singer of the Manhattan Brothers) London born Nicola attended the Cleo Laine school of music followed by the Bourne school of music and Goldsmiths foundation, and enjoyed a Classical training by Elizabeth Anderson Kramer. Despite her enormous versatility and numerous genre changes for various projects, Nicola retains a deep desire to follow in the classic jazz styles she grew up with and has always loved. Her understanding of the feel and swing of the best of the past, and her own contemporary iconic style and individuality adds to and supports a voice of mesmerising purity and beauty. Comfortable in all types of live situations, Nicola makes a speciality of singing accapella and is capable of incredible scat solos when the mood takes her. She can touch an audience with a torch song, before drawing them back to laughter with her endearing and graceful humour. Nicola has a way of sticking you to the spot, and always wanting more; you stay there until forced to leave. Many acts have recently tried to encompass the enduring appeal of the great jazz singers and writers - few if any, have the capacity or talent to do it with such authenticity or affection as Nicola Emmanuelle.

Julie Charnet

Julie Charnet is a jazz/blues vocalist on the east coast, based out of Philadelphia, PA. Her passion for timeless music can be heard in her soulful slides and animated live performances. Classics and rare gems from the 1930's, 40's, and beyond, make for a unique repertoire that include "old school" blues favorites, and new interpretations of jazz swing, and popular others. Her expression of the music tells many of life's stories. She will take you back to another time, yet maintain a fresh perspective. Her performances are usually as a trio, quartet, or big band and frequently allow for special guest musicians

Blue Raspberry

BLUE RASPBERRY Former Wu-Tang Vocalist Since 1994 Blue Raspberry has been the incredible voice behind the Wu-Tang Clan. A killer songstress who can hold her own with her voice, Blue Raspberry has always been a back-up stylist who could steal the spotlight from any Clansmen on a track. Her timeless vocals have been featured on numerous classic tracks including “Heaven & Hell,” and “Rainy Dayz,” from the multi-platinum selling Only Built For Cuban Linx. She mysteriously added a melodic flavor to the harsh realities of the world. Her impressive introduction to the world she continued to solidify her spot as Hip Hop’s premier female vocalist gracing tracks with operatic and soulful vocals like no one in this industry could dare do. She would go on to secretly write, arrange and produce (without being properly credited) much of the music she worked with RZA during her Wu days

Carol Duboc's new release, Burt Bacharach Songbook featuring three time Grammy nominee Hubert Laws on the Flute, promises to become a Jazz classic for the ages. After moving back to her hometown of Kansas City, from Los Angeles in 2008, recording a collection of Burt Bacharach hits seemed a natural fit for Carol. Both Carol and Burt claim Kansas City as their birthplace and as a songwriter herself, Carol has always admired the writing talents of Mr. Bacharach and his partner Hal David. Joining Carol and Hubert Laws is her all star Kansas City quartet including Danny Embrey (Sergio Mendes, Karrin Allyson), Bob Bowman (Freddie Hubbard, Karrin Allyson) and Joe Cartwright (Mel Torme, Karrin Allyson)
