Maria Sartori was born in Treviso (Italy) in 1960. She is the youngest among her siblings, Chiara and Francesco. Her mother, Lina, was a homemaker and her father, Giuseppe, was a pediatrician. The family lived in Vidor, a tiny village at the foot of the preAlps. Her childhood experiences shaped her way of feeling and looking at the world. She started painting free hand when she was about six years old. She grew up listening to classical music, some jazz and the ethnic music her father would play for hours every day. She was introduced to the guitar and singing by her brother Francesco. Maria was thrust into adulthood by the death of her father in 1980

Arlene Bardelle has been dazzling audiences with her tasteful vocal stylings for the past several years. Chicago is her home base, where she works with some of the finest musicians in town. Arlene was a mainstay at the famed Coq D'or in the Drake hotel for many years with Craig Lanigan. Arlene's long time accompanist, the renowned jazz pianist Tommy Muellner says, "Some singers just scratch the surface of the great American songbook, but Arlene digs deep into its core. Cara has traveled all over the world to perform; including playing Princess Diana in the Backstage Award winning “Divas” Off Broadway at the legendary Studio 54 in New York City, she received rave reviews in LA weekly for her role in the musical Dracula in Hollywood and was the lead singer on Carnival Cruise Lines’ “Ecstasy” ship out of Galveston, Texas. She has also done many commercial voice-overs, including Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, and Toyota. Cara was seen on NBC’s “The Singing Bee” and Bravo’s “Sheer Genius” which resulted in the rainbow bright hair that can be seen in the Photo Gallery. Cara received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theater from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia where she performed at the Arden, Wilma, Merrriam, and The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts portraying the second nurse from the left in the world premiere musical “I’ll Be Seeing You”

Dobet Gnahoré

Dobet Gnahoré, a singer, dancer and percussionist from the Ivory Coast, inherited the force of the “Bété“ tradition from her father, Boni Gnahoré, a master percussionist who plays with the Abidjan-based Ki-Yi Mbock Company, directed by Werewere Liking. It was within this Ivory Coast-based company that Dobet met French guitarist Colin Laroche de Féline, who went there to immerse himself in African melodies and rhythms, after being introduced to them by Toroma Sika in France. Having spent some time in the well-known Tché Tché dance company, Dobet decided with Colin (in 1999) to form a duo, Ano Neko, which means “Let’s create together“ in Bété language

Maria Jacobs is an American Jazz vocalist, singer/songwriter and author. She is the Adjunct Professor of Applied Vocal Jazz at Kent State University. Born of Syrian Lebanese and Armenian descent, Maria was raised in Cleveland, Ohio where she frequently shared the bandstand with her father Mike Jacobs, a drummer and singer in the area. She is a national voice over artist and a Traditional/Smooth Jazz recording artist who has charted on the Groove Jazz and Smooth Jazz Global Holiday Charts. Maria became a licensed music educator following the completion of her second degree in music education from Kent State Universiy and began working as a Principal Conductor and Curriculum Advisor for The Open Tone Music Academy, who now partners with Jazz At Lincoln Center

Challenge and change are the themes underlying the 40-plus-year career of the revered female African-American a cappella ensemble, SWEET HONEY IN THE ROCK. In the course of creating its adventurous and diverse mixture of blues, African, jazz, gospel and R&B music, with excursions into symphonic and dance theater, 23 vocalists have passed through the group, formed as a quartet in 1973 at a workshop at the D.C. Black Repertory Theater Company in Washington.
